The Fly
Mixed media sculpture
2016
Made with upcycled materials, in response to the 2015 waste crisis in Lebanon.
While trash was accumulating on the streets, a little fly took advantage of the carelessness of citizens and their lack of effort to reduce their waste, and started to feed on the detritus they were throwing away.
The feast became bigger and bigger, and the little fly started to eat more and more, growing with every bite.
Soon it became huge, and started to swallow anything that was on its way.
This didn't seem to bother the people who kept on living normally, turning the piles of trash into their new urban landscape swallowed by the fly.
